DAY 01:
ITINERARY -
London - Gretna Green (Whiskey Tasting) - Glasgow
After a warm reception from your tour manager at your dedicated pick-up point settle in your comfortable coach as we set off on our journey. Crossing the Scottish border, you will stop at Gretna Green.
Gretna Green where eloping couples would exchange their vows over the Blacksmith's anvil and be bound to each other forever. Visit the Famous Blacksmiths Shop, in Gretna Green, which has over 260 years of history and heritage. It is now an excellent, award-winning wedding destination, with many attractions for visitors including shopping and a few restaurants. Resist the urge to tie the knot yourself. Here we will introduce you to the Whisky heritage the Scots have become synonymous with, with a Malt Whisky Tasting of Scotland. You will discover the diversity of Scotch Whisky with a brief description of how whisky is made and the characteristics of the different whisky regions. You will also sample 2 malts and a liqueur.
We then continue our journey to the bold city of Glasgow. Here in the city tour visit Glasgow Cathedral - the oldest cathedral in mainland Scotland and the oldest building in Glasgow and the spot where Glasgow first began to take shape, George square - the principal civic square in Glasgow and a focal point for many popular events, the famous University of Glasgow & many more.
Later, we enjoy a lovely Indian dinner before checking in to the hotel.
DAY 02:
Glasgow - Falkirk Wheel (Boat Ride) - The Kelpies - Edinburgh - Glasgow
Today morning after breakfast take a ride on the world's one and only rotating boat lift, The Falkirk Wheel. A marvel of engineering and Scottish Canals' flagship destination, The Falkirk Wheel. Connecting the Forth & Clyde Canal with the Union Canal in a half-turn that takes only five minutes. Enjoy the full experience of The Falkirk Wheel during your 50-minute boat trip. You will depart from the Falkirk Wheel basin ready to enter The Wheel's lower gondola. Once the boat team have been cleared for rotation, you'll then sail through the sky to join the Union Canal 35 meters above your starting position in only 5 minutes. After your first boat trip in the air, you will smoothly sail along the aqueduct, through the rough castle Tunnel (complete with its award-winning lighting installation) to the mouth of the Union Canal, before doing a full 180 degree turn and completing the entire trip in reverse.
Our next stop will be at Helix Park, home of The Kelpies - the largest equine sculptures in the world. Standing at 100ft tall and weighing more than 300 tonnes each, the magical Kelpies are a man-made wonder and a feat of engineering. The Kelpies represent the lineage of the heavy horse of Scottish industry and economy, pulling the wagons, ploughs, barges and coalships that shaped the geographical layout of Falkirk.
We then make our way to the capital city of Edinburgh. Upon arrival we enjoy a orientation tour of Edinburgh city, covering the princes street, Palace of Holyroodhouse and much more. Later we discover a world-famous icon Edinburgh Castle. Perched on a volcanic plug, Edinburgh Castle has dominated the skyline of Scotland's capital city for centuries with its fine state apartments and ancient Scottish crown jewels. Cross the Royal Mile to see St Giles' Cathedral and its crown shaped spire.
Enjoy your dinner at one of our selected restaurants before making your way back to the hotel.
DAY 03:
Glasgow - Nevis Range - Commando Memorial - Glenfinnan Viaduct - Neptune Staircase - Glasgow
Today after breakfast, channel your inner Highlander as we embark on a journey north to the banks of Loch Lomond.
We make our way along the scenic route towards Fort William, to visit the Nevis Range. On arrival, enjoy a cable car ride to the summit rising to 1,345 meters above sea level for breathtaking views of Ben Nevis the highest mountain in the British Isles. An ancient giant of the land, Ben Nevis was once a massive active volcano which exploded and collapsed inwards on itself millions of years ago. In Scotland, you can't get any higher than this.
Next, we have a photo stop at the Category A listed structure The Commando Memorial which stands some 17ft or 5.2m high and comprises a group of three bronze commandos dressed in typical World War Two uniforms and equipment including cap comforters, ammunition pouches and weapons. This monument was built in memory of the officers and men of the commandos who died in the Second World War 1939-1945.
Later we make our way to the Glenfinnan Visitor center to have a photo stop of the famous Glenfinnan Viaduct and the Glenfinnan memorial. The Glenfinnan Viaduct is a railway viaduct on the West Highland Line in Glenfinnan, Inverness-shire, Scotland, built from 1897 to 1901. Located at the top of Loch Shiel in the West Highlands of Scotland, the viaduct overlooks the Glenfinnan Monument and the waters of Loch Shiel. Glenfinnan Viaduct has been used as a location in several films and television series, the famous one being four of the Harry Potter films. Glenfinnan Monument was erected in 1815, in tribute to the Jacobite clansmen who fought and died in the cause of Prince Charles Edward Stuart. The 18m-high monument was built here, with the lone, kilted highlander at the top providing a poignant reminder of the clansmen who gave their lives to the Jacobite cause.
Our final stop for today will be Neptune's staircase, which is a staircase lock comprising eight locks on the Caledonian Canal. The system was originally hand-powered but has been converted to hydraulic operation.
End the day with an amazing dinner at one of our selected restaurants before making your way back to the hotel.
DAY 04:
Glasgow - Lake District - London
Today morning after breakfast, we check out from the hotel and settle in for a scenic drive north to the Lake District.
The Lake District is England's largest National Park and is famous for its breath-taking scenery, abundant wildlife, and cultural heritage. We will be visiting Lake Windermere England's largest lake, in the heart of the Lake District. Embrace the area's heritage from a cruise on Lake Windermere in a spectacular voyage giving the traveller magnificent views of mountain scenery, secluded bays and the many wooded islands followed by an Experience and chug between Haverthwaite and Lakeside in an old-world steam train. Travel back in time when you climb aboard the steam train. A distant memory of bygone years for some and a new experience for others.
In the later afternoon we drive back to our respective drop off points and bid farewell to all friends you have made on the tour.

You will be charged if you use any payable facilities at the hotel to your room and payable on departure. Most hotels may require a credit card to cover your extras or cash deposits. Note: Mantra Holidays reserves the right to substitute hotels whilst passengers are on tour to a similar standard due to unforeseen circumstances. Please note that hotels normal check-in times are from late afternoon, e.g. 3pm and checkout around 11am, but it does vary from hotel to hotel.
Most hotels can only accommodate a maximum of three persons in each room. If you are a family of four, i.e., two adults and two children, (and prefer all to be in one room), then your first child will be given an extra bed, but the second child will be required to share the double bed as no extra bed can be provided. The extra bed provided will be either a sofa bed or rollaway bed. These extra beds may not be full sized as double beds and are usually suitable for one individual only. The cost of the package is based on a minimum of two adults sharing one room. If your group consists of one adult and one child, the child must pay a full adult fare to make up the cost for the room required. Baby cots are not guaranteed. When you opt for two rooms, each room must have an adult accompanying a child as per regulations of the hotel. A child will always have to be accompanied by an adult in a room. We will try our best to get these 2 rooms next to each other but cant guarantee the same. Where a quad room is not available for your group, a reduction will be given as stated in the itinerary. Note that quad rooms have limited space and additional beds may not be suitable for tall adults. Any damages within the room or Hotel you are staying in, will be payable at the time of departure by passenger.

If you have any specific dietary needs or allergies, you must inform us at the time of booking, so we can inform the caterer. However, special arrangements for food cannot be guaranteed for allergies or requests such as Halal or Jain meals. Passengers with severe food allergies are advised to make appropriate arrangements prior to commencing their tour. Mantra Holidays reserves the right to change meal arrangement in circumstances that are beyond our control.
If for any reason we are unable to provide the meal, we will refund the passenger with 10 GBP per person per dinner.
Mantra Holidays at times works with intermediary agents (Hotels, Transport Companies, Other Suppliers etc.) to arrange your holiday. If passengers have special requirements such as a rooming request, or a special meal request etc., then they should advice Mantra Holidays at the time of booking. Any special requests cannot be guaranteed by Mantra Holidays. Seating requests are not taken under any circumstance. Seating is allocated by booking reference number however, there are some exceptions to this, i.e., group sizes, coach size, promotional seating, H&S Laws, pickups, company discretion etc. We do not, promise or guarantee any specific seat on the coach, and we have the sole right to assign your seats. Any indication is for reference only and is subject to change regardless of whether given in writing or any other means. Seat numbers will be informed to all passengers on the day of departure. Groups with children will not be seated in the front of the coach even if they have booked very early. Some seats in the coach may not recline. Passengers who do not want to book under the same booking reference number but wish to travel together, they must inform Mantra Holidays at the time of booking so they can be seated next to each other. Any medical, and or personal grounds are not considered when allocating seats, unless explicitly stated by law or governing bodies.
It is passengers responsibility to ensure that your property and valuables are always safe. If an item has been left in the coach, you will need to call the respective supplier and arrange with them directly for the return of your item. Mantra Holidays will not carry anyone's property across international borders whether it is authorized in writing or by any other means. In case of theft, you will need to advise your Tour Manager immediately and report the theft to the nearest police personnel who will provide you with a police report or crime reference number. You are advised not to carry unnecessary valuables and to be always vigilant, as tourist spots are well known targets for pickpockets. Mantra Holidays recommends all passengers to have valid travel insurance, including EU citizens.
Some journeys can be long, and they are unavoidable when travelling from one city to another. Hence, Mantra Holidays recommend on such long journey days to wear comfortable clothes. As most part of these days will be spent inside the coach, we advise passengers to carry all necessities that they may need for the day such as water, dry snacks, tissues, medication, chagers, powerbanks etc. with them in their hand luggage.
Due to many visitors, there may be waiting times and queuing times involved, which can be anything up to 4 hours. These times may be modified without notice by the management due to exceptional events, unfavourable weather conditions, large numbers of visitors, or a Force Majeure event. Access to the excursions/monuments depends on the type of ticket purchased, and all exits are final no re-entries are permitted. Tickets issued are for immediate entry. In the case of loss or theft, the tickets cannot be reimbursed. Certain excursions may restrict access due to saturation.
The tour manager reserves the right to modify the itinerary during the tour. These changes may occur due to unexpected delays, major local events that can often arise or a Force Majeure event. Time keeping is the most important aspect of a group tour and all passengers must adhere to the timings given by their tour manager. All our holiday packages are subject to governance by DVSA for driving hours hence it is the passenger's responsibility to ensure all departure times are respected. Mantra Holidays will not take responsibility for passengers left behind due to not adhering to itineraries and times stated by the tour manager for whatsoever reason, and any subsequent impact this may cause financially or non-financially. It is a passenger's responsibility to ensure that they are clear in understanding of the departure time from any given point. If in any doubt, please make sure that you recheck the departure timings again with your tour manager and follow the same.
We request you to go through the general information and Terms & Conditions before booking and travelling.
